The lab was busy over the summer! It was great to welcome Dong Tai Wu from National Chung Hsing University (Taichung, Taiwan) to our group, as well as Levente Felso, Martin Lengyel, and Richard Yu Lang from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, who joined us for their summer internships.

It was a pleasure to visit Prof Jinho Lee’s group at Incheon National University in South Korea and give a seminar, followed by an invited talk at the 22nd International Symposium on the Physics of Semiconductors and Applications in Jeju, South Korea.

Matyas has been awarded the prestigious Lendület "Momentum" research grant by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) , securing five years of funding for the MTA-HUN-REN EK Lendület "Momentum" Solar Energy Conversion Research Group!

An organic approach to solar hydrogen

Our cover art was selected for the May issue of Nature Energy, illustrating solar hydrogen generation by our organic photoelectrodes!

March 2025

Our paper, titled "Enhanced solar water oxidation and unassisted water splitting using graphite-protected bulk heterojunction organic photoactive layers" has been published in Nature Energy.

An associated Nature Energy Research Briefing is also available, providing a concise summary of our paper’s main findings.

Liza Lutter has started her PhD in the group!

She joined us after earning her MSc in Nanotechnology from the University of Central Florida, where she conducted research in the Nanotechnology Lab, focusing on atomic force microscopy. A former rower, Liza still enjoys sports in her free time, particularly running and swimming, and never says no to a snowboarding trip with friends or family.

The new glovebox has arrived and is now ready to be used for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells and photoelectrodes.
